Political rants in chats… The joy!

July 14th, 2009 Joshua Moyers

Soo… I got into a discussion that I figured I’d share with the maybe 1 or 2 people who actually look at my website. Names have been blocked out (except mine) to prevent people from getting upset, and some non-related stuff has been removed.

I got a bit into it, maybe a bit carried away but read and enjoy!

[w******] is anybody else watching/listening to the hearing?

[carbine] What hearing?

[w******] ..guess not…

[e******] It’s a done deal at this point.. this is just a formality.

[j******] sotomayor

[w******] yeah..

[carbine] Christ. Is she that crazy anti-gun bitch?

[j******] SHE GONNA TAKE UR GUNS, CARBINE

[w******] somebody said to the affect: unless [sotomayor] melt down, you will be confirmed

[e******] No, she’s the mayor of Soto

[e******] was probably the same NPR soundbite I heard.

[carbine] This lady is fucking crazy.

[w******] you don’t even know who she is, and you can say she’s crazy?

[carbine] From what I’ve read on her 2nd Amendment stance I find her crazy

[k******] no, carbine has the typical “i think she disagrees with me on one point, so she’s crazy” opinion

[w******] sorry, too frustrating..

[e******] w******o meet carbine, carbine, w******o

[k******] oh, he buggered off

[carbine] According to her the 2nd amendment doesn’t apply to citizens of the US

[carbine] Who the fuck does it apply to then??

[j******] bears

[k******] do you have a source, where he says “the second amendment doesn’t apply to us citezens” or some paraphrase thereof?

[k******] not saying she didn’t say tht, I’d just be interested read it

[carbine] It is that the Second Amendment only to limitations the federal government seeks to impose on this right,. said the opinion. Quoting Presser, the court said, .it is a limitation only upon the power Congress and the national government, and not upon that of the state

[carbine] http://www.cnsnews.com/public/Content/Article.aspx?rsrcid=48718
[carbine] states do not have to obey the Second Amendment.s commandment that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”

[carbine] As long as we’re just making shit up as we go, I’d like to state that the local traffic laws such as speed limits and driving on the right side of the road don’t apply to anyone within my car.

[carbine] Also, arrest and search warrants don’t apply to me or my property.

[carbine] I’d say those are fair trades for just translating our civil rights however you please.

[carbine] That cunt.

[k******] hmm, that’s a more complex ruling than you make it seem

[e******] Carb, she has the typical female demo point of view.

[k******] though after reading three paragraphs I’d still say that i disagree with her.

[carbine] Ha. And the supreme court ruled against her when she basically tried to make it so minorities didn’t have to score as well in firefighter tests to get promotions.

[carbine] The reason we have our 2A rights are to protect ourselves from a government run by people like her.

[j******] the reason we have our 2A rights is because at the time, we were under british seige :P

[carbine] Right now we’re under USA seige.

[j******] there is no fighting going on.

[j******] there is no war in our country.

[carbine] But without methods to protect ourselves, our government could do a complete takeover and we wouldn’t have any way to prevent it.

[carbine] The government should be afraid of its people, not the other way around.

[e******] I gotta agree with carbine on this one..

[carbine] People misinterprate the 2A, thinking that it’s to protect ourselves from outsiders and criminals. It’s true intent is to ensure that our government doesn’t have the ability to rule us against our will.

[j******] the government should BE people

[j******] how do you define “complete takover”?

[j******] like, what would our government take over?

[e******] power corrupts, almost always.

[carbine] It’s in our goddamn declaration of independance that we have the right to decide if our government is working for us and that we have the right to abolish and replace our government if we feel fit. Taking away our methods of protection completely destroy that.

[e******] nods at carbine

[carbine] Not saying I think there should be a revolution right now, but if the people of this government were wronged and wanted a new government in place, we should have the right and means to do so.

[carbine] people of this nation**

[carbine] And the bad thing is, media, school… All of it is controlled by our government, and all of it is designed to keep us in line. Tell us that guns are bad and that we’re proteced by the patriot act, by our government. We don’t have the need to protect ourselves because the government is doing it for us. Well what if we want to protect ourselves from the government? Oh, sorry, we can’t do that because the people of this country have been taught to believe that a piece of metal which is used as a tool is the antichrist, and that if we have these guns that our children will die and crime will reign supreme.

[carbine] Guns are just tools. They aren’t any more dangerous than the people using them. The only reason why people are taught that they are so dangerous is because the government doesn’t want us to have a goddamn way to protect ourselves should we need to do so.

[carbine] They distract us with TV, sports… Everything so that while they’re making decisions for us to vote on, the average american isn’t paying attention and can’t/won’t help prevent things from being put in place. Those who do pay attention are vastly outnumbered.

[carbine] AAnd the US citizens are at fault just as much as those in power for letting themselves be manipulated and controlled.

[e******] fat, dumb, and happy.

[carbine] Go ahead and call me crazy, or some kind of conspiracy nutjob. I don’t fucking care.

[carbine] But at least think about what I said for a second.

Moar code! Josh’s Ultra-Secure Login

May 4th, 2009 Joshua Moyers

secure

Well, I’m not too crafty when it comes to security. I’m decent but I’m no expert. I did come up with a nifty idea though. As far as I’m concerned this login script should be pretty secure. It asks for 2 passwords, MD5 hashes both of them, then it takes both of those MD5 hashes and puts them into a final MD5 hash to check against the password stored in the database. To top it all off, it only allows 5 attempts every 6 hours.

Of course, it’s all written in PHP. You can check the script out by clicking here! Of course though, with it being as ’secure’ as I say it is, good luck getting in. The source is also available for download, use and customization. You can snag that by clicking here!

A bit late but…

February 17th, 2009 Joshua Moyers

Debt Free!

I AM DEBT FREE! Well, I was til I put like $60 on some clothes at Kohls. That will be taken care of on Monday though. I’m trying to learn how to use my credit card RESPONSIBLY. It’s been working so far. There was so much stuff I could have bought that I just put down because I realized I didn’t need to spend money on it.

Oh! Also! I got a netbook! It’s a little Acer Aspire One. Cute little guy too. Running this distro called “Linpus Linux Lite” which is actually just a slimmed-down Fedora. Once I got it customized the way I liked it became my best friend when it comes to chatting or quick internet browsing.

On a related subject, I plan on completely switching over to Linux. After reading a couple things about Microsoft’s plans for Windows 7 (Like this… And this…) I decided that I will no longer support Microsoft. Tonight I plan on removing Vista from my desktop and installing either Ubuntu or Debian. I may keep a copy of XP on my desktop for some DJ work but that will be the extent of it. Once I found out Photoshop CS4 for a gold rating in Wine and the latest version of WoW is scoring platinum there was nothing holding me back! (Well, I own a Zune and until I can find a replacement I’ll be forced to use that.)

Well, wish me luck with the migration!

That crazy DJ fun… And other stuff!

January 15th, 2009 Joshua Moyers

Numark Total Control

Well, lately I’ve been really getting into dance, drum & bass, techno, electronica, hip hop, rap and everything else. I’m not sure why but I can’t get enough of it. For Christmas I got this nifty little tool called the Total Control by Numark. Basically it’s a tool used to control audio software such as Numark Cue and Trakdo DJ Studio 3. I’ve been fiddling with this nifty little tool for a while. DJing isn’t exactly as easy as the DJs on TV make it look. Beatmatching, setting up beat grids, having smooth and flawless transitions between tracks. UGH! All of it is quite difficult yet very fun. I can proudly say that I am getting the hang of it though. Today I taught myself how to set up working beat grids and how to use those beat grids to beatmatch tracks! Yay!

Anyways, on to other things…

I know I haven’t really talked much about my life here in a while. (Well, I haven’t talked about anything here in a while.) Today that changes. Here are some basic updates on my life since my last “Josh’s Life” post.

  1. I’ve officially registered for graduation! Woo! I graduate in May with an associates degree in e-commerce.
  2. I’ve gotten the ball (somewhat) moving on starting my own business. The budget is done and the business plan is on the way.
  3. I’ve been extremely happy in my new relationship. It’s been a little over 2 months and I have never been happier. Susan was a gift I didn’t deserve yet still greedily took anyways.
  4. I HAVE 2 WEEKS OF VACATION NOW! YEAH!
  5. My mother went through 2 brain surgeries for aneurysms and survived both with a clean bill of health!
  6. I should be moving out by late February or early March. Hmm. Living on my own. (Well, I’ll have 2 roomates.)

Exciting, huh? Eh. You’re right… XKCD is more entertaining. Oh well. =(

Steganography! A Web-based GUI for Steghide

January 9th, 2009 Joshua Moyers
php

I got bored the other day and figured I’d go about creating an easy-to-use GUI for steghide. My original idea was to create a quick little batch file to make the entire thing an ease, taking care of arguments -n- whatnot for those who aren’t to good with a command prompt or shell environment.

After realizing how much working with Windows batch files sucked, I decided to see what I could do using PHP and its exec() and system() functions. Using these I have created a nice little GUI that allows users to upload an image, type in text and a password and receive a finished image with text hidden within it. It currently only supports JPEG and BMP files, but I could have it work with WAV and AU files as well. I just figured I’d keep things simple.

The script also allows you to extract the text from a steg’d image provided you have the password which was used to embed it. Simply upload the file, input the password and click a button! The text will be displayed and you’ll have your hidden message!

All credit for the program Steghide goes to the original developer. I just used PHP to run the program on my server and return the results. For more information on Steghide feel free to visit its SourceForge page my clicking here.

Want to learn more about steganography and the art/science of hiding files/text within other files? Read  more about steganography at the following sites:

Why I’ve been so happy…

November 9th, 2008 Joshua Moyers

Well, as always a lot has changed since my last post. There have been a lot of events in my life and all of them have worked out for the better. There is one thing in particular that is bringing me most of my happiness. I am no longer single!

The girl who I am now calling  my girlfriend is a special one. For the longest time (Since we met) I have had a bit of a thing for her, but never decided to let anyone know. There was a lot of drama that surrounded her and none of it was anything I wanted to be part of. I kept my distance and showed as little interest as I possibly could. Apparently it worked well because she had absolutely no idea that I was interested. Anyways, after talking to her online about relationships, friends and many other things on our minds I informed her that I had a bit of a crush on her…

Not too long after this we decided to try out a date and see how well it went. Knowing she was special, I wanted to make the first date special to match! I planned our date around wine tasting at the Wolf Creek Winery. The date started with me picking her up from her house with flowers waiting. From there we went to the winery, did some wine tasting, ordered pizza and just had a generally great time. Afterwards we went back to my house, curled up and watched a couple movies. All together I’d say it was a perfect night.

From that point on we have seen eachother constantly and have enjoyed every second more than the last. (At least I have… I hope she feels the same way!) I actually got up the guts to ask her if she was ready to start a relationship and after a bit after that (And a nice romantic cuddling night) she decided she was ready. Since then we’ve been a happy couple for the few days we’ve been together. There’s really not much else to say about this without going on and on about how amazing she is, so I’ll leave it at that.

As for everything else… I’ll save that for another post. I think I’ll get some rest now!

Oh, by the way… SHE LIKES SHOOTING GUNS! WOO!

Another rant no one will read!

October 17th, 2008 Joshua Moyers
ANGRY BABY

BWAHAHA.

So right now I’m on a major caffiene buzz. I’ve had a total of like 7-8 cups of coffee today and 3 cans of pop. That mixed with well-timed eating, a couple beers and some fresh air has got me WIRED. ANYWAYS. I am blogging right now to get a bunch of shit off my chest that probably won’t make any sense to anyone unless the people I’m talking about read this shit. And a lot of people that read this may think this post is about them when its really not. Oh well, its fun to confuse people and whatnot. =D

HERE IT GOES

First off, girls, guys, everyone in between… You DO NOT need the opposite gender to be happy. I’ve talked to several people lately, many of which think they need someone from the opposite gender to make them happy. Sure, it makes it easier to be happy when you have someone to fool around with, hold hands with, cuddle with… But usually that just leads to the point where you’re like, “Why the hell am I here? I’d be happier single.” PEOPLE. Relationships, sexual companionship… All of that isn’t NEEDED. I’m single, I’m happy… I guess I don’t see why other people can’t be the same way.

Second off… STOP TELLING ME WHO I SHOULD FUCKING VOTE FOR. MY CHOICE, NOT YOURS. Obama this, McCain that. Its bad enough I have to hear about it on TV, online, at work… I don’t need my friends or random strangers bringing it up to me too. I swear to God I can’t wait for this to all be over, which it won’t be. Ever. Whoever gets elected, there will be a group of people that will make it trendy and cool to bitch and moan about them, and I’ll get to go through that for another 4-8 years.

Finally (The end of this post, not of stuff I wanna bitch about right now)… LIVE LIFE AND HAVE FUN. Everyone needs to slow down and stop worrying about shit so much. If you spend your entire life worrying about the rest of your life you’ll die without actually living life. Don’t spend all of your time planning for the next time you have to plan. Kick back, have a random day, do whatever you feel like for once. Jesus… So many people working around strict and tight schedules. Just do what you please and go with the flow for a change. Its completely awesome and great feeling.

LOVE YOU ALL!

Until next time,
Josh <3

MORE UPDATES?! WTF?!

October 14th, 2008 Joshua Moyers
MORTAL KOMBAT!

Well, the party from the last post was a HUGE success. TONS of people showed up and had fun. None of my equipment got destroyed and everyone made it through alive! Awesome! Oh.. And I’m 22 now. I’m a grandpa. =(

As for everything else… HALLOWEEN PARTIES ARE COMING UP! I’m going to be dressed as a Russian soldier with my comrade Jake. We’ve got bullets, guns, goggles, helmets, gas masks… Gonna be an amazing time. Hopefully the parties turn out good and my costume doesn’t get destroyed on the first night.

I also got to try sake for the first time. It was okay, but I was expecting more. I’d much rather drink Pepsi with my sushi. The fact that I was drinking it in shots instead of sipping it probably had something to do with that though. They shouldn’t serve the bottle with a tiny shot glass to an American college student. They’re just asking for it to be destroyed. =x

That’s all for now! WAIT! I got Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 on DVD today for $10 including shipping! Can’t wait for them to arrive!

CRAZY weekend ahead!

October 3rd, 2008 Joshua Moyers

Howdy folks! Long time no post! Anyways, I’ve got a GIANT weekend planned for to keep me busy for my birthday. As of 5:30PM today I will be off work and on my way over to Amanda’s. From there we will head out to the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland to see Hollywood Undead. I’m almost positive it will be an amazing show. From there the weekend just gets better.

Saturday I have a LOT of planning and preparation for the night. I have to get wood from work, help KJ, Mark and Bobby gather wood from Bobby’s work, unload it all, drunk-proof KJ’s house and get a sound system set up in the back yard for a MASSIVE party which is supposed to take place that night. 9PM to the following day will be an insane time. People, fire, music, booze… Wow, can’t wait!

Sunday, after waking up and cleaning up I’m heading to work to go to yet another concert in Cleveland! This time I’ll be seeing Protest the Hero and Unearth at the always enjoyable House of Blues. This too should be a good show.

Monday I have requested off a paid day at work to recover from this awesome weekend. Hopefully I’ll make it through alive!

Fall brings change..?

September 7th, 2008 Joshua Moyers

Well, it seems as if the days are getting shorter and the air is getting colder. I’m not at all excited about this but it’s nothing that I can change. Oh well, just another half a year of cold and hoodies. With Fall brings a lot of change though. I plan on getting more involved in starting my own business. This involves getting together a business plan, working out a budget and a ton of other stuff. It’ll be a huge pain in the ass but at least I’ll be doing something with my life.

Another change that’s happening is that I’m actually getting more involved in working on my car. I’m no mechanic and I can’t do too much on my own, but I am making some improvements and modifications, but I’ll get into that in another post when I have more to talk about.

I’ve also managed to end/resolve a problem I recently had in my life. I won’t go into any details here because it’s a bit more personal than I care to share to any random person online, and I like to think of myself as a bit more mature than that. =P Anyways, I’m all better on that and now have a clear head and an idea of where my life is going as far as that is concerned! Woo!

Other than that, stuff has been pretty much normal. Ran into some old friends I’m glad I’m hanging out with, getting to know some of my current friends better and all other kinds of phun stuff.

This is Josh, signing out for now!
